Biotin (vitamin B7) is one of the water-soluble B vitamins and is sometimes also called vitamin H due to its effect on hair and skin. Biotin is also involved in energy and macronutrient metabolism and supports normal psychological function. Biotin is found naturally mainly in offal (liver, kidneys), eggs, wild salmon and dairy products, but also in oatmeal and nuts, avocados, raspberries and cauliflower. Biotin is particularly recommended for vegans.
The body's own moisturizer hyaluronic acid, also a long-chain polysaccharide with high water-binding capacity and high malleability, keeps the skin and connective tissue elastic and is an important component of the synovial fluid as well as the tear film and vitreous body of the eye.

biotin deficiency
Biotin deficiency can lead to muscle pain, brittle hair and nails, discoloration of the hair and hair loss, skin disorders and skin changes, changes in metabolism, nausea and loss of appetite, reduced hemoglobin and increased cholesterol levels, heart function disorders and an increased susceptibility to infections.
This is how a biotin deficiency can develop
malnutrition due to an eating disorder (anorexia)
reduced absorption capacity in kidney diseases
reduced absorption capacity in chronic inflammatory gastrointestinal diseases
increased iron loss and reduced absorption capacity due to kidney disease
increased need during pregnancy
increased need when taking certain medications (antiepileptics, antibiotics)
genetically caused biotin deficiency: carboxylase deficiency and biotinidase deficiency
hyaluronic acid deficiency
wrinkle formation
dry skin
reduction of the gelatinous body of the intervertebral discs
decrease in synovial fluid
This is how a hyaluronic acid deficiency can occur
At the age of about 40 years, the body produces on average only 40% of the required hyaluronic acid
